Product Description

Read more In The Swim Pool Calcium Hardness Increaser In the Swim Pool Calcium Hardness Increaser is a great way to resolve low hardness levels. When the calcium hardness level in your pool gets lower than 200 ppm, the water is considered aggressive. Aggressive water wants to fulfill its need for nutrients by pulling the minerals from the interior surface causing etching and corrosion on handrails and pool ladders. To fulfill the need of the water, add Calcium Hardness Increaser to raise the calcium hardness. The ideal range is 200 - 400 ppm. Product is average 97% granular calcium chloride. Dosage: 6 lbs. per 10,000 gallons will raise the hardness level approximately 50 ppm. In The Swim Pool Calcium Hardness Increaser should not be premixed or mixed with a small amount of water. Hardness Increaser, when mixed with a small amount of water or in a bucket, will go through a chemical reaction that will generate heat. Calcium Hardness Increaser should not be introduced until after a water test is complete. Once a water test is complete, and the low calcium hardness level is confirmed, measure the suggested amount of Calcium Hardness Increaser into a chemical-safe container. Once the appropriate amount has been measured, cast it across the surface of the pool with the circulation system running. Kill Your Pool's Corrosiveness Average 97% Calcium Chloride Increases calcium hardness level Prevents aggressive or corrosive water Dosage 6 lbs per 10,000 gallons to raise calcium hardness level about 50 ppm DO NOT PRE MIX Read more In The Swim's Recommended Pool Care Signs of Low Calcium Hardness Calcium Hardness is the measure of calcium in the pool’s water in parts per million. Calcium is very important to maintaining a safe swimming environment. If the hardness level in your pool drops below 200 ppm. The water will become more aggressive, due to the lack of nutrients. The now aggressive water, will become more corrosive until it fulfills its need for minerals. To do that the water will pull minerals from the interior surface causing etching. The corrosive water will also corrode equipment such as heaters, ladders, and handrails. Testing There are a couple different ways to test for calcium hardness in pools. The most common way is using a OTO/DPD droplet test kit or a test strip. Calcium hardness should be tested every week or every two weeks depending on your water source hardness level. For the most accurate test make sure that the water sample is taken at a minimum of 18” and that the pool has circulated a minimum of 3 - 4 hours. If you are using a test strip the same rules apply. Grab a sample of water from 18” deep, so that you can dip your test strip in the sample. Treatment After recognizing the signs of low calcium hardness and testing the water to confirm the suspicion. It is now time to treat the water. Start by measuring out the appropriate amount of In The Swim Calcium Increaser. Place into a chemical same container. Turn the circulation system on, cast the hardness increaser across the pools surface. Allow the circulation system to run at least 6 hours after adding. Retest and repeat treatment if calcium hardness is still below desired range. Read more FAQ's Q: How much Calcium Hardness Increaser should I use to raise my calcium hardness? A: In The Swim recommends 6 lbs calcium hardness increaser per 10,000 gallons to achieve a 50 ppm rise. Q: What should my calcium hardness level be at? A: Your calcium hardness level should be between 200 - 400 ppm. Q: Why should I be concerned with my calcium hardness level? A: A low hardness level can cause corrosion on handrails, pool ladders, and heaters. Low levels can also cause etching of your pool's interior surface.
