I was impressed this actually worked. I have a best way saluspa St. Moritz inflatable hot tub. It takes a few times to get the hang of it. When you squeeze the bottle to start the suction, do it away from the debris you are trying to suck out, otherwise it will blow it all over the bottom of the spa. Once you squeeze it, keep it squeezed until you position the product over the debris, then let go, it sucks it right in! It can be tricky to keep the 2 pieces together as if it’s not lined up properly and fitted, it will come apart under the water, but for me the debris stayed on the bottom of the bottle. It does work well but it takes awhile to clean my spa as it only picks up about 1/2-1 inch area at a time. Works great for sand, tiny pebbles/sediments, pine needles, and any other small debris that sit at the bottom of a spa.overall the product works and it seems to be the best option on the market but it's not ideal.1) you need to squeeze the bottle outside of the water and then push it in. if you don't lite weight grit will be expelled into the water2) you need to be patient and do multiple passes as it will leave small fines until only small fines are left.Does what you need it to do. Takes longer than it should because it squirts out a bit when you squeeze the bulb, blowing the debris around. It’s good, could be great, needs a spring on the one way valve.Pros- Once you get the hang of it, it does remove sandy grit pretty well- Relatively inexpensive- No batteries or electronicsCons- Takes a few minutes to get the hang of using it- Takes time to cover the whole tub, as it only vacuums a few square inches per squeeze- Not good at catching lightweight (dead bugs) or large debris, but a simple skimmer or net takes care of that- Comes apart easily, maybe a little too easily- Requires attachments, if you don't want to get into the waterVerdict: I have only used it twice, but would recommend it, as a simple and inexpensive tool for removing grit from a small spa/hot tub. It does the job.Does what it is supposed to do after figuring out the correct technique. Not for major cleanups. Best at 'blowing' debris closer to the filter which, hopefully, will succulent. Cost me a bit over $10, so won't break the bank by not returning.Great for a small pool/spa. I have a wading pool to sit in and just need something to get a little bit of sand out of it. It does work, just make sure you squeeze it BEFORE putting it at the targeted area. Otherwise it will push the grit all around which you don't want to do. It may take a bit of time but it's better than disconnecting the hose to filter for just a small amount of sand.Considering the alternatives, which to me seemed quite expensive, this little sucker hits the sweet spot of working well enough for the price. It takes a bit of practice to get it to work optimally, but once you get your technique locked in, you're golden. Debris may occasionally escape upon squeezing the bulb, but I've been able to minimize this to an acceptable level using these steps:1. Point the head away from the grit. This will keep the outflow from step 2 from pushing the grit away.2. Squeeze the bulb hard and fast. This will ensure the inflow check valve closes quickly and tightly, preventing grit from escaping the bulb.3. Put the head over/in front of the grit.4. Release the bulb as you move over the grit to be collected.5. Move the head away from any remaining grit before the bulb completely fills, I'd guess around 2/3 full. Any grit sucked up in this last part of the stroke may not make it far enough into the device to get past the check valve and will thus get shot out on the next squeeze.Using this technique I've gotten quite efficient at my grit gitting. I even used it as a "critter gitter" the other day to save a spider that fell in! I hope it remembers this and repays me by feasting on some of these mosquitoes from my neighbor's stagnant water feature...This thing works great once you get the hang of how to use it. You have to either let if slowly suck up the grit or squeeze it away from the grit and release so it sucks it all up in one quick motion and repeat. Super easy to clean. My check valve appears to get stuck but it has been performing OK so it must not be an issue.I resisted buying a Grit Gitter for twenty years, as they seemed nasty and plastic and very overpriced. Having gone through a couple of other solutions, I finally gave in and bought one. They are, indeed, nasty and plastic and overpriced. But they work better than anything I've used so far, does the job - very practical and easy to store/use. I doubt the construction will last a lifetime, but we'll see. The filter element is particularly flimsy. We have had our hot tub for 8 weeks, and I realised within a few days that grit from feet building up in the hot tub would be a problem. The grit gitter was recommended to me by a friend, and its brilliant. Simple and effective. A bit expensive for what it is, but it works well and is hassle free. Highly recommended.Had a few of theseOnly thing on the market that worksJust buy itBut shop around prices fluctuateThis is a fantastic bit of kit if you have a hot tub or swimming pool because it picks up the tiny pieces of grit a net or vacuum misses. This is my third over the years. They don't last forever if used a lot because eventually the rubber weakens but it is huge value for money and I regard it as an essential bit of kit.Was sick of seeing bits of sand and grit at the bottom of the hot tub, was sceptical whether this would work very well, but it really does the job. Simple to use just squeeze it and it'll suck up any sand and grit on the bottom.Highly recommended!
